I have been going 2 to 3 times a month since it opened. I'm not trying to knock the place too much, jus being truthful. Located on the Mescalero Apache reservation in beautiful Mescalero, our resort blends the charm and comforts of an upscale golf and spa resort with the thrill. Once in awhile you will see a well-dressed couple, but if you want a fancy night out, go to Sandia or Isleta. Most of the time, the staff tries to be nice and helpful.
Servers are few and far between in the casino), great pizza, and good food and drinks in the bar.įor me, it's a little smokey, but I don't mind the surroundings at all. They have the newest, and some old machines, there are no tables, plenty of free drinks, (coffee, sodas, if you are willing to go pick them up yourself). The casino is just off of Albuquerque's main downtown street, so your neighbor at the machines might be a prostitute, or homeless person, begging for your money. Nearby is the Travel Center for gas and diesel hair salon laundry and RV Park. It's nice to step into if you are hot from going to the fair, races, flea market, or strolling Central. A bingo room and VIP showroom complete the destination. The Downs is not a high-class, fancy place.
