While I like the larger Casino Del Sol with all the amenities, we actually played twice at Casino of the Sun because we did much better there. The vast majority of machines are penny machines - but the unique thing is that the max on many of the machines was $1.25, $1.50, or $2.00.We had fun playing 'the max' and actually did better than at the larger Casino Del Sol! Also, it wasn't overcrowded, so we didn't have any trouble getting on the machines. Our gracious and welcoming resort is a successive five-time recipient of a AAA Four-Diamond rating, and TripAdvisor. This beautiful, open-air venue offers a truly unique concert-going experience. An oasis nestled in the secluded mesquites of the high Sonoran Desert. With comfortable seating for almost 5,000 attendees, Casino Del Sol’s AVA Amphitheater is the premier concert venue in Tucson. Some of the slot machines are older ones where the games have been out awhile. Just 15 minutes from Tucson International Airport and downtown, you’ll discover The Sol of TucsonCasino Del Sol Resort, Spa, and Conference Center. We found it, and yes, it is a small ,older casino. I got the feeling it is geared more for locals. We used the google maps on our phone to find it - we didn't see any signs with directions or advertising for the Casino of the Sun. The Casino of the Sun is a short 5 minute drive from Casino Del Sol. This trip we stayed at Casino Del Sol but were curious about their original casino, so we went exploring. Later they built the much larger Casino Del Sol with the hotel and convention center attached. Casino of the Sun was the original casino of the Pasqua Yaqui Tribe.
